Freddy is one of those movies, that leave you thinking long after they have ended. This psychological thriller starts with introduction of Dr. Freddy Ginwala, who is a well-known dentist in Mumbai city. He belongs to Parsi community. He is shy and introvert by nature and is still unmarried. He is very lonely and spends his free time painting model airplanes. His only friend is a pet turtle named Hardy.
In order to find a soulmate, he meets his dates at a nearby cafe. As he meets his dates at the same cafe and has the same order every time, the staff and regulars at the cafe make fun of him. The first half of the movie details how he has missed opportunities with his potential soulmates because of his awkwardness.
Finally, Freddy came across a woman named Kainaaz while attending a wedding. He tried to talk to her, but that goes sideways, as she was married and her abusive husband, Rustom, gets jealous and harasses Freddy for merely talking to her.
The very next day, the same woman visits Freddy at his clinic to get her wisdom tooth removed. After removing her wisdom tooth, Freddy gets access to her private details including her home address. As he was infatuated with her, he started to stalk her by parking near her house and trying to see her through the windows. While stalking, he found out that her husband brutally abuses her. He thought of intervening but can't because of his introvert and shy nature. But he remembered his parents' relationship which was similarly abusive and ended with his father killing his mother and then committing suicide. So, in order to protect Kainaaz, he called her up and asked her to meet him. He changed his appearance to seem more approachable. Though they started meeting, he continued to stalk her and kept tabs on Rustom.
The two eventually started an affair. Finally, Freddy told Kainaaz that Rustom’s abuse will only stop with Rustom’s death. Kainaaz initially advised against it but later agreed.
Since Freddy was aware of Rustom's daily routine, he laid out the plan to kill Rustom. On one day, when Rustom was on his way for his daily run, Freddy followed him in his car and runs him over multiple times. Once he was sure that Rustom is dead, he drove away to his family’s farmhouse in Karjat to lay low there for a few days and also got rid of his car used in the murder.
After few days Freddy returns to Mumbai and goes to Kainaaz’s house. He knocked at the door assuming that he would be greeted with hugs and kisses, but to his surprise, Kainaaz’s real boyfriend, Raymond, opened the door, and then Kainaaz came out in a totally changed appearance. She revealed the truth to Freddy that she had merely used him to get rid of her husband so that she and Raymond could get hand on her dead husband's wealth and live together. She also made it clear to Freddy that she never loved him, and she felt disgusted whenever they got intimate. The first half of the movie ends here.
The second half of the movie start with Freddy and her aunty out for a walk at Marine Drive. While talking to her, he mentioned that he is not scared anymore. This scene indicated that Freddy's shy and scared personality is gone, and he is ready to take action if anyone betrays him.
But he still went to Kainaaz’s restaurant that she inherited from her late husband, Rustom, where he repeatedly ordered falooda and demanded an apology from Kainaaz for her betrayal. His plans failed as Raymond threatens him with police action with proof of Freddy stalking Kainaaz’s house and talking about killing Rustom.
Finally, Freddy makes up his mind to exact revenge on Kainaaz and her boyfriend. He prepared a plan and broke into Kainaaz’s house. He mixed sleeping pills into their food, added dishwashing soap into Kainaaz’s face wash (something that she’s allergic to), hacked her laptop and got out of the house. When the Kainaaz and her boyfriend came back home and ate the food, they fallen asleep due to sleeping pills in their food. When they fall asleep, Freddy broke into the house again and deleted all the images and chats from their phones. He also sent a message to himself from Kainaz’s phone, which would act as proof towards Kainaz's involvement in her husband’s murder. On his way out, he messed with the brakes of their car. When Kainaaz woke up, she noticed her allergic reaction and rushed out to the hospital with Raymond in his car. As the brakes were compromised, they lost the control on car and nearly crashed it.
Eventually, Kainaaz and her boyfriend found out that it was Freddy who caused all this. So, they started tormenting Freddy and Freddy tormented them as payback. Their cat-and-mouse chase continued to the point where Kainaaz's boyfriend took away Freddy’s pet turtle Hardy and killed it. When Freddy came to know about death of his pet, he made his mind to end the game once and for all.
He decided to kill Kainaaz and her boyfriend. He bribed a person to become an eyewitness of Rustom’s murder by Kainaaz and her boyfriend. Once the couple got trapped, he called Kainaaz and offered a deal that if the couple came to his family farmhouse in Karjat and apologize to him, he would let it all go. In desperation, they agreed to Freddy's demands and went to the farmhouse.
As soon as they reached, Freddy tricked them with empty gun and engaged in a fistfight with them. As Freddy was fully prepared, he knocked out them and tied them in the patient’s chair. When the couple gained conscious, they found Freddy in his doctor’s uniform ready with his dentist gear. Firstly, Freddy pulled out the boyfriend's teeth one by one without any mercy. Then he killed him and buried him in the backyard of the farmhouse. Next, he turns to Kainaaz and pulled out all her teeth without any remorse. Then he buried her while she was still breathing. In the next scene, Freddy lying between Kainaz and her boyfriend’s graves in the backyard of the farmhouse.
While Freddy lies atop their graves, the question comes to our mind if he has covered all his tracks to avoid suspicion from the police? Well, at the end of the movie we see that the police found out that Kainaaz and her boyfriend have left the city with a suitcase. The police thought that the duo has run away as they’re the prime suspects in Rustom’s hit-and-run case. As Freddy is a respected doctor in the locality, the police will not have the slightest suspicion about him.
