Jack Ryan Season 3: Scene-by-Scene Explanation

Spoiler Alert!

The third season of "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan" series is finally on Amazon Prime Video. In this season Jack Ryan tries to stop the destruction of his country and eliminate the possibility of World War III with the help of his colleagues Jim and Mike. If the enemy is successful, there will be a great catastrophe as well as a war between America and Russia, which may lead to World War III in the future. So let’s get into the details without any further delay.

The season begins with a scene set in the year 1969 in which some scientists are working on nuclear weapons in a secret lab of the USSR. Then the general of the USSR army comes there and orders his soldiers to kill those scientists, to hide his failures, and tells his sergeant that Project Sokol is now over.

The next scene brings the story to the present with Jack on a mission in Rome, Italy. He enters a hotel where a private party of foreign political leaders is going on. He sneaks into the party and meets a Russian Minister named Zoya Ivanova. She informs him that Project Sokol has been revived, which had been shut down before the end of the USSR. She further tells him that a missile is being made under this project and is already on the move. She gives him a chip and then gets him dumped outside the hotel by her security claiming he crashed the party. She does this so that no one has any doubt about their meeting. Jack informs Jim about this and returns to the US Embassy in Rome to analyze the chip. On analysis, he finds that the Chip is actually a SIM that is based on a single-source send/receive system, in which the PIN sent by the sender can be received. The card can also be used to track the element used in the weapon being developed under project Sokol. Jack and Jim then report their findings to Station Chief Elizabeth Wright, but she does not believe them as they have no concrete evidence.

Then in the next scene, Russian President Surikov meets Alexey Petrov who happens to be an aide of the current Russian Defense Minister, Dmitry Popov. Petrov tells Surikov that NATO is bringing nuclear weapons into the Czech Republic, and as per him Russia should retaliate. But Russian advisor Luka Goncharov suggests to the president that they should remain vigilant for the time being and not retaliate for now. At this time Russian Defense Minister Popov is in Prague where he will be meeting Czech President Elena Kovac. He meets her in Prague to talk about NATO. President Elena says she will reject NATO's offer only if Russia stops its incursions into Ukraine, as the people of the Czech Republic will no longer feel the need for NATO’s protection if Russia stops its incursions. Popov does not like this and leaves after warning her about this.

In the next scene, the phone in which Jack inserted the chip given by Zoya receives a notification that the current whereabouts of the element being used in the missile have been found. Opening the notification gave the coordinates of a ship. Now Jack has to go to that ship to find out the truth. CIA Director Miller sends Jack and 3 other agents on this mission. But he gave clear instructions that their mission is to locate the ship and confirm if the information is correct. Jack and his team board the ship which is headed to Greece. Then they find a nuclear scientist locked in the ship. His name was Yuri Bashkin. The shots were fired by Russian guards while they were trying to escape but they managed to escape. Then the scientist reveals that he was already told about this escape plan. After getting this information, Jack realizes that the scientist was sent to them as per some conspiracy. So, Jack informs Station Chief Wright and Jim about this. Then Wright asks Jack to go to a location in Greece where her people will help Jack and Yuri reach a safe house in Athens. But as soon as they reach the given location, they were attacked by some assailants. In this fight, all the soldiers assigned to help them to reach the safe location get assassinated. Then Jack and Yuri get in the car and manage to get away from there. But when they reach there, they find out that a car is following them. The men in the pursuing car open fire on them and Yuri is killed. Jack escapes but in this attempt, a policeman is killed by him. Then he contacts Wright to inform her about the situation, but he was told by her that he must surrender as the Greek government has declared him a fugitive for the murder of Yuri and a police officer. But his friend Jim advises Jack against it. Now Jack is on his own as no one can help him now.

A day after meeting President Elena, Russian Defense Minister Popov goes to a football match held in the Czech Republic, where he is shot dead. Czech President Elena is also present there, but she and her security cannot do anything.

When CIA Director Miller comes to know that Wright allowed Jack to go to Greece, he scolds her. After this Jim and Wright also reach Greece. There they found out that the Russian Embassy has issued a Red Notice against Jack. After that, they head to the US Embassy in Greece to find out the details about the person who helped Jack in hiding. They find out that a contact named Tony has helped him. Jim knows Tony as he has met him before. Wright decides to meet him to get further information. She also has a suspicion about Jim as he and jack are close. So she keeps a tab on him as well.

In the next scene, the aide of Russian Defense Minister, Petrov, gets confirmation from President Elena's head of security, Radek Bryza, that the shooter sent to kill the Russian Defense Minister has been killed. After this, he is now the new Russian Defense Minister. After becoming the minister, he scraps all the agreements done between the former Defense Minister and President Elena. After that Elena permitted Israel to use one of the bases in the Czech Republic for their missile testing.

In the next scene, Petrov meets President Surikov and tells him about America’s failed attempt to kidnap Yuri, the Russian scientist, and proposes to take action against them. But the President decides to wait for now. Russian adviser realizes that assassination of the former Russian Defense Minister Popov was not an American act, but an insider. So he tells the same to them.

President Elena gets a visit from Mary Cahill, a CIA representative from the US embassy in the Czech Republic. She assures her that the US had nothing to do with the assassination of Russian Defense Minister Popov. She then asks her for the right to see the CCTV footage of the football stadium. It is revealed here that Officer Mary Cahill is a friend of Jim Greer.

Jack, on the other hand, is staying in a safe house where he meets Tony. Jack talks to his colleague Mike and asks him to come to Greece. So Mike also reaches Greece. But at the same time, Wright learns that Jim sent Tony's address to Jack. After that, she sends Jim to Prague to keep an eye on President Elena.

Then we see that the FBI raids the US Embassy in Rome to capture Jack Ryan but they do not find him there. As per Wright’s instruction, Jim meets President Elena in Prague and gave her the recording of the conversation between Russian President Surikov and former Russian Defense Minister Popov. In the recording, it was clear that Popov was in favor of her decision and advised the Russian President not to take action against the Czech Republic. Jim then tells Elena that Russia's new defense minister has a different opinion and it would be better if she agrees to let NATO protect them.

In the next scene, Jim calls Jack who tells him that he believes the assassination of former Russian Defense Minister Popov was part of a larger conspiracy. Jack then meets Zoya's informant, Luka Goncharov. Luka tells him that the Uranium is going to be used in the nuclear missile. Meanwhile, Chief Wright along with the FBI reaches there to capture Jack, but he escapes with Mike's help.

Then we come to know that President Elena's father Petr is one of the masterminds behind Project Sokol, who assures his coconspirators that his plan is on track. Later, Petrov also visits him and asks him to convince his daughter to let NATO come in so that the next part of their plan can succeed.

Jim shows Elena the CCTV footage from the football stadium. Here Elena remembers that Radek, her security chief, was not with her in the stampede that followed the assassination. Just then Petr also comes there. Jim tells them that Popov's murder was an insider's job. We also come to know that Elena has allowed NATO to come in with its missiles.

In the next scene, Wright tells the CIA chief about Jack's plans and activities. But he tells her that he wants to take Jack into custody. He does not give any importance to the mission that Jack is working on. Elsewhere, Jack and Mike track down a Russian man involved in project Sokol and find out that the uranium is being moved to Matoxa, Russia. After this Jack gives this information to Chief Wright.

When Radek's wife and children are not at home, Jim breaks into his house, where during his investigation he finds a picture of Radek and Petr together. He then tells this to President Elena but also tells her not to capture Radek for now as he wants to track Radek down to find out who he is working with. When Radek's wife returns home, she finds out that someone had broken into their home. She calls Radek to inform him about this. At that time Radek was at Caslav Air Base, where President Elena was meeting with NATO officers. After the call, he claims that there is a problem and gets in the car with Elena, and leave.

Jack and his team of 4 reach the expected location of the uranium in Matoxa. It was a factory. When they get inside, Luca was already there. He tells Jack that the uranium has reached the warhead and it would be better if they followed the warhead rather than prevent it from reaching the destination. He further tells that the Sokol project is only a small part of a larger conspiracy. Then he escaped with the warhead. Jack then leaves to tell Chief Wright about Luca. After some time Jack gets a notification on the phone about a location.

In the next scene, Jack and Mike reach the city of Kotka. Jack then learns from a laptop found at Matoxa's factory that the nuclear weapon built at Sokol is a clone of an American nuclear weapon so that when it detonates, the blame will be on America. In the meantime, Wright gets relieved from duty by the FBI.

In the next scene, Jim is in Prague and finds out about Elena. He sees on a traffic camera that Elena was in the car of her head of security, Radek, and the car was heading outside Prague. So he pulls out all the details about Radek and finds out that Radek was in contact with Petr and now heading toward one of Petr’s houses. It turns out that Radek found out that Petr and Jim were working together and wanted to use Elena as bait to lure Petr out. When Radek reaches Petr’s house, he locks Alena inside it and waits for Petr. He hides at some distance from the house. But when Petr arrives, he outsmarts Radek. Elena manages to get out of the room and finds out that her father killed Radek and was involved in the assassination of the former Russian Defense Minister Popov.

Jack, Mike, Jim, and Mary then head to the US embassy where they try to locate the plane carrying the warhead. Then the FBI also reaches there to catch Jack but he escapes. Then he surrenders to the Czech police. As the FBI does not have jurisdiction in the Czech Republic, it has to return. But then they go after Jim as he has assisted Jack in escaping. When the FBI reaches there, Jim tells the officer everything about the mission Jack is working on. Then they get the information that the missile is being sent to Caslav Air Base via a truck.

Meanwhile, the Czech police take Jack to president Elena, where he tells her everything about Project Sokol. There Jack learns that a NATO convoy is headed to Caslav Air Base. Then he realizes that the Sokol conspirators do not intend to use the missile against the US but they are planning to detonate it right here because it would look like a nuclear accident caused by America and the world will turn against them. Then with the help of a helicopter, Jack reaches the NATO convoy and informs them that the truck loaded with missiles is headed their way. Elena, who has been monitoring the situation, tells Jack that this road leads to the town of Nymburk, home to over 20,000 people. It then becomes clear that the warhead is going to be detonated in the city instead of the base, which will result in a much higher death toll. But when the truck full of warheads enters a tunnel, it collides with an empty truck already parked there as per Jack's plan, destroying the warhead kept in it and killing no innocent people.

Then Luka comes to Petr's house and the two have a face-to-face. Just then Elena comes there and finds her father injured. Luka stands there. Luca gets out of the room but she remained inside with her father. But when she comes out, she informs Luca that his father is no more.

After that Jack, Jim, Mike, Elena, and Luka meet at an Airfield in Prague. They board a plane together. Then Luca tells Jack that Russia will not like NATO bringing nuclear weapons and they may retaliate against it.

Chief Wright then meets General Ramos in Washington DC and with his help, she informs the US Vice President about their mission. The video evidence submitted by her clearly shows that rather than acting according to the situation, CIA chief Miller was only after Jack. The Vice President gets convinced. So he fires Miller and gives her control of the entire mission.

Elsewhere in Moscow, Luka drives a car to meet Russian Defense Minister Petrov, with Jack following him. Petrov meets Luka in a warehouse and admits that he got the former Defense Minister killed. Petrov then tells his men to kill Luka and leaves. Just then Jack arrives there and rescues Luka.

Jim meets one of his men named Vova Litishenko in Moscow and asks him to set a meeting with people from Petr's organization. But when he reaches the address given by Vova Litishenko, it is Vova who tries to attack him. But Jim survives and gets an upper hand on Vova. Then he asks him to provide the details of the person who paid him to attack him. Vova names the sender as Rolan Antonov.

Elsewhere, President Elena proposes a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Petrov, who asks her to come to Russia. Then Petrov meets Elena and threatens her to remove NATO but this does not affect Elena.

In the next scene, US Embassy in Moscow has been expelled. Then Jack meets Jim and gives him an audio clip of the conversation between Luca and Petrov in which Petrov tells Luca that he was the one who planned the murder of Popov. Jim tells Jack about Rolan Antonov. Luca tells them that Rolan is his friend and he is a Russian navy captain.

Then Jack and Luka go to Rolan's house. There they find that Russia is about to send its most dangerous battleship, the Fearless, to attack America. Meanwhile, Jim and Elena meet with the wife of former Russian Defense Minister Popov. After listening to Petrov's confession in the recording, Popov's wife agrees to help arrange a secret meeting with the Russian President. We then learn that there is an attack on Captain Rolan Antonov's house, which Petrov orchestrates. Under the guise of that attack, Petrov gives command of the battleship Fearless to Rolan and sends it toward America. Jack also leaves for there.

Jack now arrives at the USS Roosevelt, which is moving in to engage the Russian warship, Fearless. Jack tells the captain of the American battleship the truth that the Russian battleship Fearless has proceeded without permission from the President of Russia. At the same time, Luka visits Antonov on the Russian warship Fearless but Antonov captures him. As soon as President Surikov learns about the Fearless being sent toward America, he orders to withdraw the battleship immediately. Unhappy with this decision, Petrov tries to convince the Russian generals to vote to remove Surikov from the presidency, but this does not happen.

Then Jim approaches Petrov and keeps him engaged in talking about his failures and the possibility of providing him a chance to escape. At the same time, president Elena along with Mike visits President Surikov and tells him everything about Petrov's plan. On hearing this, President Surikov orders to kill Petrov. Then as soon as Petrov leaves the room after meeting Jim, he is shot dead. Meanwhile, Luka manages to arrest Antonov with the help of soldiers from the Fearless battleship. Then both the battleships return to their territories.

Elizabeth Wright is now the new director of the CIA. She awards Jack and Jim medals for this mission. Then everyone goes back to their posts. The story of this season ends here.
